Christopher Reynolds
200 BOUND

Upon discovering the limitations of library lending (200 books), this installation served both to embrace and critique the educational institution. 200 BOUND is an installation of sculpture, video projection, and sound. My installation comments on the ephemeral and lasting ownership pertaining to collegiate knowledge. The video projection provides a removal of this ambiguous wisdom.  This extraction of privileged information invites the viewer to question and/or accept the very intangible educational commodity that departs with the outgoing art student. With the merge of image and object together, I selected these books almost as treasures offered to the viewer for the taking.  Incorporating the importance of the carefully selected titles and anticipating life beyond commencement, I invited the viewers to challenge what has been gleaned from their own educational experience.
